BUWOG can look back on 70 years of experience in the residential property sector, is currently developing urgently needed residential space with around 55,000 apartments under construction and in planning and, according to the latest bulwiengesa study, is the largest private project developer. In new construction, BUWOG’s focus is on environmental, economic and social sustainability. As part of this, the company is pursuing ambitious climate protection targets.
BUWOG’s sustainability agenda extends across the entire new construction business. For example, BUWOG plans to increase the share of apartments with renewable energy to at least 35% by the end of 2024. More than every third new apartment will then be supplied with renewable energy.
Wherever it is possible and makes sense, greenery is placed on the rooftops of BUWOG’s new buildings. This provides an additional habitat for native birds and insects. And what’s more: green rooftops can store rainwater and return it to the natural water cycle through evaporation. A positive side effect: pleasant cooling on hot summer days.
At BUWOG, though, sustainability begins even before the cranes start running: when selecting building materials, we look for sustainable or recycled raw materials, primarily from the region. This not only secures local jobs, but also reduces CO2 emissions by shortening delivery routes.
